There is so much information on the Internet regarding making money it is hard to know what is truth and what is hype. No one really wants to be scammed and it’s unfortunate that many are. Everyone seems to title their money making success as “secrets”. So unsuspecting people in search of ways of making money purchase e-books and/or programs to reveal the ’secrets’. It’s unfortunate that most people don’t realize most of the secrets are reveal for free online on a daily basis. So, what is the real secret to making money online?

Over the last few years I have been searching for real money making opportunities online. I have found a number of website, viewed a number of e-book pages, visited forums and blogs that deal with this subject. One good thing about about being on a tight budget is that I never had enough money to buy anything so I never was able to be scammed out of money. This also allowed me to find the information I needed from reliable sources rather than people trying to take my money.

There are secrets to making money online but they may not be what you would expect. This is not to say that many e-books out there aren’t valuable and have information that will help you make money online. But for most of these so called secrets you can find the information on your own if you search for it. If you don’t get caught up in the ‘get rich quick’ schemes and search reliable sources than all the so called ’secrets’ are easy to find.

At this point you are probably wondering why you should take advice from who is not making a ’six figure’ income online? This is true, I have only made a few thousand dollars online over a one year period. I am not claiming to be a pro but I do know the basics of making money online. I do know the things that will waste time and the things that will grow over time.

Here are some of the secrets I have found from various off line as well as online free resources:

1. Making money online or off as more to do with determination, perseverance and ’smarts’ than what you are using to make money with. Determination and perseverance is a key to success in any area of your life including making money. This also requires time. Don’t expect to make money without working at it. Even the get rich quick scammers had to put time into planning the scam, right? What do I mean by ’smarts’? By this I mean you have to use common sense and educate yourself before venturing into things that may cost you time and money.

2. You can easily make money online. It’s not hard to make money online if you don’t care how much you make. This may not exactly be a secret but many sites will offer information on making money online but not all are worth trying. There are many sites online paying people every day for various things. You can make money reading emails, writing for community blogs, through survey sites, etc. You can earn a few bucks here and if that is your goal then great. But if your goals is to actually make an income that will help your family then stay away from:

Writing for Revenue Sharing Community Blogs (I have good reason for this, I will explain on a later date)

If you realize your time is worth more than you will seek ’smarter’ ways to make money online. With the exception of the writing for revenue sharing blogs, these money making opportunities won’t grow over time. As a mom of three kids I have decided my time is precious to my family and I am not going to waste my time with things that will make me very little money with the time invested and that won’t grow over time.

4. High traffic and good content are key to making large amounts of money with your website or blog. You could have the best information available or the best affiliate to promote but if you no one see it then it doesn’t help you make money. Getting traffic to your site can be done a few different ways but if you want to be successful with making money through a website you need to have people seeing it.

5. Paid to blog reviews and advertisements. This is a fairly new income stream for bloggers so that is why it’s somewhat of a ’secret’ to many. Companies like PayPerPost, Blogitive, Review Me, SponsoredReviews and others are paying bloggers to blog about various products and services. The better traffic, content and rankings the more you get paid more. Some bloggers are making $500 -$1000 for just one post. Good content is very important to getting a good pagerank and traffic. It is also important to have good balance between paid and non-paid post. WP BankRoll is another excellent tool that has been release recently that allows bloggers to work directly with advertisers.

6. Affiliate Marketing is an excellent way to make money online. But, there are a few things you need to know about how to best do this. Affiliate Marketing is one of the best ways to make money because you are selling products and services from well know companies that people already trust and shop from. There is a lot to be said about affiliate market so I will have to get more in detail at a later time. But just remember you shouldn’t have to pay to become an affiliate for any company.

7. Adsense can make you good money if you have high traffic, high paying keywords and have good content with a good balance of Adsense placement. I think the first thing most of us think as we enter the world of web/blog building is that if we just put Adsense ads on our blog or site and start writing then we will make money. The truth is unless you have high traffic with higher paying keywords then you are not likely to make much at all. It’s not to say you shouldn’t try Adsense but just understand it’s not as easy as you may think. There are some sites that offer lists of high paying Adsense keywords. The best way to use Adsense is to view it as one of a few ways to make money with your site.

There are more keywords to search but this is a start. Try and keep away from keywords such as, making money online, because there are probably way to many results that would be worthless to you. Now that you know ways you can really make money online do more specific searches on these topics.

If you find a site that has interesting information but don’t know whether to trust it or not ,get the site stats on SmartPage Rank. You can find out all kinds of information about a site by viewing their stats. I would suggest finding out who is linking to the site. If there many people are linking to the website then more than likely the site is a good resource for you.
